This is a great article to introduce you to some basic color theory.

If we encourage our students to develop their design aptitudes, we as teachers will need to develop our own right-brain design skills.

In A Whole New Mind Daniel Pink relays the drawing class that he took.  Teachers need to do the same sort of “professional development”.
