This is an article from a design series from design mind magazine.

The project, TeachDesign, approaches the issue of waiting to teach design skills until college.

“Designers, through training and experience, develop a different lens through which to see the world.”  What a great way to summarize the need to develop the design aptitude.

In A Whole New Mind, Dan Pink echos that sentiment when he discusses the design aptitude and its role in the 21st Century.

This particular article provides details on a building project at a Texas high school.  The Austin designers from “TeachDesign” took advantage of a campus building project and created a collaborative exchange between designers, architects, and students from the high school.

Students approached the project and enhanced their design aptitude because of dedicated business people, teachers, administrators, and teachers.
