What a great way to develop empathy. I’ve used some of these cartoons at PoliticalCartoons.com, which are very reasonably priced.
But if you are looking for an angle to teach empathy in history, go to the Library of Congress site and use their resources. Their analysis guide is outstanding. I use it for every cartoon we cover in the year. Not only are you teaching empathy, but there are a large number of Story elements in the guide!
As a history geek I am partial to political cartoons. But what an easy, effective way to convey multiple skills. By the time your class is used to the guide, this could end up being a 15-minute focus activity.Share
