This is an interesting phenomenon for teachers. As much as we don’t like to admit it, we lecture. And, as much as we don’t like to admit it, students do not always pay attention.
What if we as teachers could use the “backchannel” – Twitter and other online chatting?
I have wondered myself how to use Twitter in order to address the aptitude of Story. Students would have to take large concepts and break them down into bite-size pieces while conveying the overall meaning. If used correctly, the same skills utilized in short story fiction could be used to tweet. It would be just like a six-word story, but with more words.
Would it be possible for a well-crafted lecture, based on a story-telling framework, to be published via Twitter?
Stay tuned and I will let you know. But a word of caution: Make sure to read the blog and see how people are dealing with the backchannel…The good, the bad & the ugly!Share
