School Goes Green

I ran into this article and immediately thought of Daniel Pink’s Meaning from A Whole New Mind.

Kids at these “green” schools work on projects that are meaningful to them and their families.  And it goes much deeper than classic environmental issues.  Schools study the impact of political and economic decisions on their own neighnorhoods.

And if you read through some of the examples, the concept of Symphony permeates the projects.  Kids use geometry to analyze waste cans placement in their own neighborhoods.  They discuss the media and it portrayal of their economic situation.

An excellent read, and a definite example of A Whole New Mind in education.
